NEW COMMIT: Will Goodwin has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Missouri as a member of the Class of 2023. Goodwin is from Centennial, Colorado where he is a junior at Regis Jesuit High School.
Primarily a breaststroker, Goodwin swims for the University of Denver Hilltoppers and is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. At the Colorado boys 5A high school state championships last week Goodwin was a key piece of Regis Jesuit’s state championship earning efforts, finished runner up in the 100 breaststroke (55.78 prelims, 55.80 finals) and 200 IM (1:48.22). Both of those times are faster than his lifetime bests, though neither appears in USA Swimming’s database. He also anchored the school’s winning 200 medley relay and swam third on the winning 400 freestyle relay.
His best times (according to USA Swimming) are:
200 Breast 1:59.85 100 Breast 55.95 200 IM 1:49.10 400 IM 3:52.89 200 Back 1:49.88 100 Fly 49.97
Goodwin has seen a slew of improvements throughout his junior year, setting lifetime bests in March in the 200 breaststroke, backstroke, IM, and 100 breaststroke and butterfly. Since 2017, Goodwin’s best 100 breaststroke has come down by just over a second and he’s shaved nearly three seconds off his 200 breaststroke time.
“I’m honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the university of Missouri. I’d like to thank my coaches, teammates, friends, and family for I wouldn’t be here without them. Mizzou has everything I need to improve both as a student athlete and a person. Go tigers!”
